Urban farming · Madrid

We grow food on your city’s rooftops.

We turn unused rooftops into high-yield vertical farms. Fruit and vegetables harvested a few streets from your home, grown without chemicals and delivered every week.

What we do

One farm, spread across Madrid’s roofs.

MINA AGRIBAN designs, installs and runs urban farms on the rooftops of residential and corporate buildings. We grow locally and take the harvest straight to the people who eat it.

We grow

We install hydroponic and aeroponic vertical farms on rooftops that sit unused today. Each farm is tended by a member of our team and monitored in real time.

We deliver

Subscribing households receive a basket of about 5 kg of seasonal fruit and vegetables every week, in sustainable packaging and perfectly ripe.

We supply

Produce not going to subscribers reaches local supermarkets and distributors through stable agreements, always from Madrid and without long-haul transport.

The operations hub

A warehouse of about 1,500 m², well connected to the city, coordinates the whole network of farms.

  • Seed and nursery preparation
  • Washing and quality control
  • Basket packing
  • Storage and logistics
  • Farm monitoring
  • Home delivery
How it works

From an empty rooftop to your table in five steps.

  1. We find rooftops

We work with residents’ associations and companies to use their rooftop at no cost to them, using the building’s architectural information.

  2. We install the farm

We set up the nursery and hydroponic or aeroponic irrigation, adjust electricity and plumbing, and pay the running costs.

  3. We watch it daily

Sensors and software track temperature and humidity in real time and alert the grower to any issue.

  4. We harvest and pack

Each piece is picked at its best and packed on the rooftop, for direct delivery or a stop at the hub.

  5. We deliver

Our driver takes baskets to subscribers and surplus to nearby supermarkets.

Technology

More harvest per metre, fewer resources.

We combine four techniques that make it possible to grow where soil can’t reach: on a rooftop.

Hydroponics

Roots in nutrient solution

Roots grow not in soil but in a substrate or in the nutrient solution itself, which carries everything the plant needs.

Aeroponics

Up to −95% water

Plants grow without soil, fed only by misted water and nutrients. Water is recycled in a closed loop.

Vertical farming

60+ kg/m² a year

We stack both techniques in vertical towers and racks to get the most out of every square metre.

Monitoring

24/7, in real time

Tracking software watches temperature and relative humidity on every farm to optimise growing conditions.

Reference figures: FAO (urban farm productivity) and studies on aeroponics. Actual yield depends on each rooftop and crop.

The basket

Real fruit and vegetables, every week.

A seasonal mix grown according to organic farming principles, without chemical pesticides, and harvested at its peak.

  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Cucumbers
  • Peppers
  • Aubergines
  • Carrots
  • Onions
  • Strawberries
  • Melons
  • Watermelons
  • even pineapple or banana
  • EffortlessNo lists, no queues: your basket arrives at home every week.
  • Peak freshnessFrom rooftop to kitchen in hours, not days.
  • Sustainable packagingBoxes and materials designed to cut waste.
  • No lock-inCancel any time. If a basket disappoints, we replace it.
Impact

Good for the city and for the people in it.

Environment

  • Lower carbon footprintGrowing in the city centre with more efficient techniques means less transport and less energy.
  • More biodiversityNew green space on top of a city made of concrete, asphalt and stone.
  • Cooler rooftopsPlants give shade and cool the air through evaporation, easing the urban heat island.
  • Cleaner airAs they grow, plants capture part of the CO₂ in the air.

People

  • Inclusive employmentWe train and hire people with disabilities to grow and harvest the farms.
  • Local jobsAgronomists, growers, warehouse, delivery, marketing and admin, all in Madrid.
  • Community and learningWe involve neighbours and teach nutrition and growing to anyone who wants to learn.
  • Healthy eatingFive portions of fruit and veg a day is easier when the basket arrives on its own.

FAQ

What people ask us most.

What does it cost to offer a rooftop?

Nothing. We agree free use of the space, install the farm with our own resources, adjust electricity and plumbing, and pay the running costs.

What does a rooftop need to host a farm?

Free space, the agreement of the residents’ association or owning company, and the building’s architectural information. Our engineers assess each case.

Is the produce organic?

We grow according to organic farming principles, using hydroponics and aeroponics, which deliver high yields without chemicals.

Where do you deliver?

We are starting in Madrid, delivering straight from the farms or from our hub. Other cities will follow.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, any time, with no lock-in. If a basket disappoints, we look into it and replace it.

Do you sell to businesses and supermarkets?

Yes. We offer supply agreements to local distributors and chains. Write to us for terms.
